Measure the usable space, position your logo and prepare a clear brief for custom jewelry packaging.
The short answer: choose a jewelry pouch by its usable space, not just its outside dimensions. Test it with the jewelry, display card and any care insert inside. Agree the logo's actual size and position on that filled pouch before approving a wholesale order.
A pouch can look generous when empty yet become difficult to close around a bracelet or a thick display card. For a private-label collection, the purchasing decision is therefore about fit, presentation and repeatability together. This guide explains what to put in a sourcing brief without assuming that one pouch size suits every product.
1. Measure the complete contents
Lay out everything the customer will receive: jewelry, backing card, folded polishing cloth and printed care card. Record the widest point, the tallest point and the thickness of the assembled contents. A chain laid flat and the same chain mounted on a card create different packaging requirements.
Send the supplier these measurements or a physical example. Ask for both the finished outside width and height and the usable area below the drawstring channel. The closure, seams and gathered top take up space; there is no reliable universal allowance for every construction.
- Rings and stud earrings: test the card or holder as well as the jewelry.
- Bracelets: check the thickest section and whether the intended presentation is flat or curved.
- Necklaces: decide how the chain is secured; a pouch alone does not establish an anti-tangle system.
- Multi-item gifts: confirm whether pieces need separate compartments or individual packaging.
2. Distinguish appearance from material performance

Ask for the material specification and a sample suitable for your product's surface. 3. Position the logo on the filled pouch
Request a mockup showing logo width in millimeters, distance from the bottom seam, and the space below the closure. A centrally placed logo on an empty pouch may fold into the gathers once the drawstring is tightened. A high-contrast mark can also read differently on a reflective surface.
Provide a vector logo where available and identify any very fine lines or small lettering. Ask the supplier to confirm the branding method, achievable detail and print area for the selected material. A digital mockup confirms layout; a physical sample is needed to judge the finished appearance.
4. Approve a repeatable specification
Record the approved dimensions, agreed tolerances, color reference, closure construction, logo dimensions and packing arrangement in one versioned specification. For repeat orders, reference the approved sample and artwork version instead of a description such as "same gold bag as last time."
At sample review, insert and remove the full contents, close and reopen the pouch, and inspect the seam finish and logo visibility. Agree any additional rub, transfer or handling checks with the supplier for your intended use; do not assume a photo demonstrates those results.
5. A useful wholesale RFQ

We need a branded drawstring pouch for a bracelet on a display card, plus a folded care cloth. Please propose a finished size after reviewing our attached measurements. Quote gold and silver options separately, confirm the usable interior, logo method, sample charges and MOQ per color, and identify whether individual packing is included. For buyers in the US, Europe, Australia or South America, specify the delivery destination and any required packaging language at the quotation stage. Use one agreed measurement unit, with a conversion shown if your team also works in inches. Separate production readiness from the requested arrival date, and ask which freight and delivery terms the quote covers.
Buyer questions
Can I order several sizes with one logo?
Ask for each size and color to be listed as a separate variant. Confirm the minimum quantity, logo dimensions and setup charges for each variant; a combined total does not automatically satisfy every variant's MOQ.
Is a metallic jewelry pouch automatically anti-tarnish?
No. A metallic appearance is not evidence of an anti-tarnish treatment. Obtain product-specific confirmation before making that claim or using the pouch for a particular protective purpose.
